Info for Athletes

The new Prohibited List comes into effect as of 1 January 2021. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has mainly made formal changes. The sections that have been updated for the Prohibited List 2021 include beta-2 agonists and substances of abuse.

From 1 January 2021, administration of Vilanterol through inhalation is permitted up to a maximum dose of 25 micrograms over 24 hours. Antidoping Switzerland would like to remind all athletes that the use of Vilanterol remains prohibited until 31 December 2020. If use of this medication is required in this time, a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) must be applied for in accordance with TUE Wizard.

Antidoping Switzerland reminds all athletes to check all medications with Global DRO (via website or Mobile App) before use.

The Prohibited List 2021 identifies certain substances as “substances of abuse”: cocaine, diamorphine (heroine), methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). From 1 January 2021, use of these substances will be subject to less stringent sanctions. This applies only if the substances were used out of competition and not for the purposes of enhancing performance. NB: these substances of abuse continue to be prohibited in competition in accordance with the Prohibited List 2021.
